On May 19, 2007, Maximum Loin competed in the Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ competition. The competition was held at the Kansas Speedway located in Kansas City, Kansas. Along with the standard KCBS competition, participating teams had the option of competing in a a separate brisket-only competition entitled the ‘World Brisket Open.’ In the above photo, Head Loin slices his brisket in the presence of a WBO judge (as per WBO rules).

On Friday, April 27th, Maximum Loin made its annual trek to the Corner Gardens Bar and Grill in Warsaw, Missouri. Each year, Corner Gardens pays host to the Warsaw BBQ, the first KCBS-sponsored BBQ competition that the team participates in each year. Maximum Loin loves Warsaw. Although it may have a reputation for being a playground for the rich and powerful (Warsaw is commonly referred to as the “Hamptons of the Ozarks”), the town has its share of regular folks, too. The kindness (and forgiveness) of these folks is what keeps Maximum Loin coming back to the Warsaw BBQ (because its definitely NOT the weather). By the way, Maximum Loin placed 12th overall in this year’s Warsaw BBQ competition.
